  • I have always loved AMERICA and it's culture particularly the way its depicted in movies and stuff. I wanted to come to USA , study and settle down, but after binge watching all of the episodes of this show, I AM SERIOUSLY RECONSIDERING!!!

  • I love John most when he's sounds like he could be any funny english mate you know, "beligerant arsehole" comment was that to a tee :D

  • i though Jessica Chastain would have been far more beautiful because of my experience with Jessicas, there is one girl i know that is so beautiful i get goosebumps when i look at her.

  • In some cases you are probably right. However, you try to demonize a simple consequence as a stand alone problem. The consequence of police militarization are the loose gun laws. So almost every wanker on average has a gun. If I were a police officer, I would prefer to be better prepared as some meth junkies with ARs. And you've mentioned Chicago in video. Maybe you should check the shooting statistics, and how may people are killed by police. Could be an eye opener.

  • John Oliver hates white people, and loves blacks. Traitor.

  • "I'm a --- baby merchant --- TotsRUs" lol

  • This should be required watching by every American.

  • i love how, when JO says 'w don't have an equal chance of being raided', EVERYONE knew it was black neighbourhoods that would be more likely. U.S.A - U.S.A - U.S.A...

  • Police equipped weapons like miliary

  • People honestly should just start booby trapping their homes. If someone wrongfully enters, BAM, no more head. Their fault for being where they weren't supposed to be. Lucky ones will get a cop some day and not get charged for cop killing :D

  • If this is how you treat your citizens, I don't want to know how you treat your foreign enemies ... oh wait, I already do ...

  • Awesome show.

  • I like that dale dude. If any pigs mistake my house for someone else's and bust my door down in the middle of the night, they leaving in a bodybag

  • You absolutely KNOW that baby murder cult thing was just a scenario they constructed, because it would justify using every toy in their asenal and use any amount of force they want. "What if the criminals systematically murdered babies and were also armed with rpgs and assault rifles?!" Just play paintball in your free time you fucks.

  • I could totally go for Settlers of Catan and $50 of cookies tbh.

  • Someday the shits and giggles be gone when they meet that one nutter with a bunker and thick steel doors xD good luck 'nading a baby through that

  • 1:09 bruh that baby merchant song is *fire* here is the full version btw slflow.info/town/tGqjrYWqtpWrtJo/video

  • Also note to self : do not live in a black neighborhood in the US, or at least paint my house/door in a bright fluo colour with my name on it in large print.

  • 12:48 This is why you never get involved with the police and never snitch.

  • this segment is stupid. you gotta raid where the criminals are. for the most part they don't live in the nice neighborhoods

  • 10's of thousands a year??? what the..please get your shit together America! land of the free..

  • Flashbanged baby? Guess we know who the baby murder cultists are.

  • "Three human minutes" is such a Schlansky thing to say.

  • Sorry but at the municipal and state level, diplomacy will probably always fail in america if small dick cops with big toys are taking on the diplomat role.

  • I live in Germany, my dad was a police officer. He had to write an explanation where and why he used his Weapons for every missing bullet. And he never brought it Home, because you need two saves. One for the Waepon and one for the bullets. German Police is far from perfect but at least its not like this.

  • ACAB

  • Stop doing drug raids, and maybe end qualified immunity?

  • What are you gonna do, DALE?!

  • Because there is no responsibility taken from almost any of the police is why at least in my experience most of us hate or dont like most of them. So most of us that are different from them or poor get shit on all the time.

  • The police are just as f#!ked up in most states as are goverment and probly just as corrupt ! They need to stick with traffic stops and actually helping the one who pay for this s#!t.

  • I’d like to see a reality show experiment where a fake raid is done on a few officer’s homes and see how they act. See if they remain calm and don’t fight back. See if they’ll talk to officers without yelling.

  • Glad the cops don't do this in my town as I know at least 3 people and a probably at least 10 who i wouldn't be surprised would be cop killers for disfiguring their kids.

  • my house has been raided 3 times in the last 17 years I've lived there and no the cops didn't find any drugs at any point, they just scared my mom and grandma. The first time they destroyed everything and broke my cool shark teeth I got from my 1st grade teacher, the 2nd my lil brothers and me were sleeping and I woke up to a flashlight and a gun being pointed into my room I pretended to still be sleeping just in case they were bad guys, The 3rd time my house on the block wasn't the only one raided and my neighbors older brother was arrested and my dad was held at gun point because they "fit a description'. This is in Chicago btw...

  • If someone breaks into my house I’d defend myself in a disorienting raid, how does that not make sence?

  • American police are just uncivilized animals. Mess

  • He’s got a joint, take them all down!

  • I can't think of many occasions where granading a baby is a useful option. maybe if it was baby Hitler.

  • Those police officers who raided Mr. Joshua’s were so woefully incompetent, it’s baffling how they survive daily life.

  • This country is sick.

  • America is broken beyond repair, RIP

  • imagine, getting lucky enough that you dont get shot during one of these raids, or not charged, or any of that, but then having to come home to a house, completetly trashed, because they got the wrong house.

  • lmao i really cannot believe they told that woman to stop yelling wtf is wrong with these people

  • It says they claimed to be held at gun point but you can see them being held at gun point

  • Once I picked up a friend at his house early in the morning for work and we were ambushed by a swat team. Guns cocked and ready to attack. Then someone looked at my license plate and yelled “wrong guy” and they disappeared in seconds like ninjas

  • I'd really like to see an episode about how many animals police kill regularly, but especially during raids. If you look it up you'd be shocked.

  • BAM! BAM! BAM! FBI OPEN UP! *door get's blown in* I guess the people in that meme were on some seriously strong drugs to think that that was 20 seconds

  • John, consistently demonstrates the most eloquent use of the word "fuck," I have had the pleasure to bear witness to.

  • The worst part about the whole "raided a family's home because they smelled marijuana" thing, is that there's a legitimately high chance that what the detective was smelling was a skunk. The two smells are so similar, I know pot smokers who've mixed them up.

  • Was anyone else confused why that grenade couple was a couple? Master Po there didn't say a word and was twenty generations older and his own hairline was afraid of his grill.

  • I live in the UK and was busted for marijuana years ago ( just personal quantity). The police knocked on my door, waited for me to open it, and asked politely if they could have a look around because someone had told them I had drugs. They were well mannered when they found what I had ( a few plants), and treated me well. I ended up getting an unofficial caution, so no criminal record and I was sent home after a couple of hours. The police in the UK are far from perfect, but I dread to think how that could have turned out if I were living in the US!

  • Theyre Hittin wrong houses purposely ,once in they can search for what they want under guise ,not much different than civil forfeiture but at home ,you can hire pirates as privateers but the roles are the same.

  • Yeeeessssssss baby merchant tots r us encore ty pickle glasses!

  • Baby merchant encore!

  • Tonight on "Stuff that would trigger a civil war if happened to rich white people but by chance doesn't".

    • 'by chance', right. Maybe it's because there's next to no crime coming from white neighborhoods, but I'm sure it's all just 'evil racism' and not black communities being riddled with crime on every corner...

  • blow your door down then blow eachother

  • HOW MANY DOGS OR PETS HAVE BEEN KILLED BY FUCKING COPS JUST BC THEYRE HAVING A BAD DAY?

  • "You don't need to watch it, you just need to know it exists" JOHN YOU ARE WRONG. There is more you need to know. Tots r us gets more specific than that, he says that legalities pay no mind and it only costs 11 000$ AND THE PEOPLE HE'S TALKING TO CONSIDER IT

  • Cop Rock won an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Music and Lyrics

  • So happy to be Canadian. This is unbelievable.

  • "Like its call of duty" no it isnt because they arent sliding up the stairs and screaming into the house when they are injured

  • This is what we mean when we say #DefundThePolice criminal with badges

  • Why does nobody talk about Aiyana Jones a 7 year old girl(black) killed by a swat team at the wrong house. Or Eugene Mallory an 80 year old man shot in his bed by an officer in a raid looking for non-existent meth 🙄 and a non-existent meth lab All the found on the old man's compound was a marijuana plant that was legally grown by his stepson.

  • "I smell marijuana, get the flash bangs to throw in cribs, the ARs, and where's that asshole that loves his house destroying tank? I smell marijuana dammit, we need that tank"

  • I'm simultaneously very relieved and thankful that I'm white, but also really embarrassed for it.

  • a raid for the smell of marijuana?? once a friend of mine passerd in front of my building and called me. i went to the window and he said that he got preoccupied cause he DIDNT smell marijuana coming from my windows. i do live in Prague so it might be it

  • In the Trailer Park Boys, there's a plot device where the main characters stymie a drug raid by switching out the street signs and house numbers. that seemed unrealistic a few years ago.

  • Happy Anniversary! Please enjoy this flavorless crucified melon. LMFAO.....

  • To top it off, that show also has 2 EMMYS! (3 nominations, and 2 wins)

  • How this man is still sane is fucking beyond me. Bravo.

  • America is absolutely screwed at this stage. Passed the point of no return.

  • Thank god for the existence of Cop Rock to act as a rage cooldown

  • 18:56 Amazingly?

  • 3:50 That’s him?

  • I had to go back to see the rest of the first Cop Rock clip after I skipped halfway. Edit: And when John sung at the beginning.

  • My favorite is Interchange!

  • Its legitimately terrifying that the narrator during the raid was using the Doomslayer's 'RIP AND TEAR' line in reference to police raids that murder and traumatize innocent people.

    • @Roman Powers-Moran I didn't even think about that lol. I guess rip and tear isn't that much of a unique line to begin with, it was more so the juxtaposition in my head.

    • Hate to break it to you but Doom didn't exist in 1986, and he didn't say "rip and tear", he said "rip, and tear"

  • Totally not an important takeaway from this video, but no one actually lives in Museum Campus? So there's not really anything there to raid, unless you think Sue the T-rex fossil is running a meth lab. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

  • We should all just let criminals run loose and never try to make them follow the law,. That makes us all so much safer. Drugs are not the main problem it is the violence and messed up lives when they are around. You sanctimonious a******

    • Notice how you presented the alternative to police brutality and destruction as complete lawlessness. Now notice the fact that that is complete bullshit. First of all, most drug raids are over marijuana, which does not cause violent crime. Secondly, you can catch criminals without murdering people, destroying their homes, and throwing flash grenades at children.

  • 9:19 While this sadly doesn’t surprise me, it does piss me off to no end

  • Wow, so basically: Police raids, kills people, no consequences. Victim defends themselves, met with retaliation, if not dead, then fined and criminally charged.

  • Have you tried not breaking the fucking law? 🤷‍♂️

    • Even when you don't break the law there is a risk of being raided

    • Are you posing this question to the baby that had a flash bang grenade thrown at its crib?

  • The police need to be completely demilitarized and non-violent crimes shouldn't be criminal...police raided me yesterday and wrong person completely because her last name is similar to mine 10 cops and the girl is just an addict meanwhile less than 10% of MAJOR CRIMES are being solved...awesome 👌

  • I agree, stop drug raids in general. Serve a search/arrest warrant like every other fucking arrest and save SWAT raids for active shooter scenarios. Safer for everyone and drug evidence is still there (no its much harder to flush down toilet). But no they gotta justify that huge budget of theirs.

  • I see this video got got over 20,000 comments all pretty much saying how shocked and dismayed by what they just watched.. my question to you is what are each of you gonna do about it.I know what I've done about it...and more than just putting a comment here.So I challenge each of you to do something more than just leaving a comment here. Here you're talking to the choir..

    • I've emailed my state and local officials and pretty much get told to fuck off. Fully plan on voting for AGs and local reps that will push back on "tough on crime" nonsense.

  • 23:23 "instead the community has to live with then knowledge that no space is truly secure from the threat of police violence." Not from police violence... But from violent police incompetence. Here's my personal belief: The lifeblood of the police... as a business model, as an industry relies FIRST on the ubiquitousness of drugs and drug use and THEN on making them illegal. It's almost like as if the police just don't believe that there are simply enough murders, enough rape, enough theft to justify their existence. No. The justification for their existence (at least in a business sense) relies on making drug use illegal. Drugs (because of their ubiquity) serve as a cash cow for the police. If the police could find a way to outlaw sex (because of it's popularity/ubiquity) they would outlaw it. Oh wait... (fuck me, I'm drunk) nevermind they already did: prostitution. Now that I think about it...there seems to a theme surfacing here... It seems that whatever is guaranteed to be popular, you can guarantee the police will find a way/reason to outlaw it in order to serve as another cash cow for themselves. 24:44 "Raids in general should only be used as a last resort" I agree with you ... but at the same time I disagree with you. In theory, yes they should only be used as a last resort ... But in practice *YOU JUST KNOW* that you're leaving the door open for them to interpret every resort as a last resort. I dunno if that first instance of using the word "resort" makes sense (I just wanted to rhyme and... again I'm drunk) but you know what I mean.

  • "Shouting should be in your Miranda rights." DAMN STRAIGHT!.... Quit silencing police victims!....

  • This segment has made the best point I've heard all year... We need a COP ROCK RE-BOOT

  • That last video of that woman getting raided was truly traumatizing

  • "Cop Rock", the show that taught Steve Bochco the lesson, "Don't put music in a cop show." (I guessed even before John revealled it.)

  • Me, trying to grasp wth is happening and watching.😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

  • 7:17 what happens when they drive that into your house 🏠 and u had no drugs do you just sleep outside until it’s time for Court

  • Yelling “SHERRIFS OFFICE” through heavy face coverings at 3AM, you might as well be yelling “SURPRISE” with a T-Shirt that says ‘armed intruder, please attack me”

  • I still can't believe they threw a grenade into a crib

  • I think the first step is to get rid of Quantifiable inmunity..... that would start making the phone *EXTREMELY* more hesitant to wanna run around like children with military grade weaponry if they has a high enough chance to be sued to death

  • JOHN.

  • JOHN OLIVER, MY NAME IS JOHN SCHROCK. I absolutely love your show. I DARE YOU TO DO A SEGMENT ON GANG STALKING. Thank you.

  • Cop Rock is a national treasure.

  • Meh...I have mixed feelings about the police. On the one hand, they do provide at least the idea of protection--crimes aren't likely to happen where there are police or security guards around, for example. On the other, though, I feel like some practices, like unproven drug raids and other unnecessary shows of force, should be limited or stopped entirely.

  • No it isn't John. And the fact Americans and you believe that is sad.

    • @Bub Dub I didn't get offended. I am simply pointing out his premise is wrong.

    • @Troy Terry I like sorting comments by "new" because you can immediately identify like 5 people that clearly didn't watch the video and got offended by the concept being presented

    • @Troy Terry you’re joking. Right?

    • @Mr. Raccoon policing is somehow based on race.

    • What isn’t?
